Training Health Educators:
A Workshop for Supervisors

It is the role of supervisors to monitor, evaluate and foster the health education and counseling skills of their staff.

This workshop will provide supervisors with information about the types of skills health education staff need, tools for helping them to teach and enhance these skills, and ultimately to improve the quality of clinic services for clients.

Who should attend?

This workshop is designed for supervisors of family planning clinic and program staff.

What You Will Learn

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Describe the components of a birth control method counseling session that meets Federal and State guidelines.
• Identify 4 essential skills of effective health educators.
• Identify tools a supervisor can use when evaluating the health education skills of staff.
• Describe proactive means of addressing skill development with staff members.
