Family planning clinic staff and clinicians are in a unique position to help clients living with intimate partner violence. Most staff understand the importance of being a resource for their clients, but how to be that resource is often the unanswered question.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is designed for family planning clinic and program staff, including: Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physicians, Physician Assistants, Health Educators and other interested staff of federally funded Title X family planning clinics.

What You Will Learn

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Describe the connections between unwanted pregnancy, abortion, transmission of STDs/HIV, substance abuse and intimate partner violence.
• Discuss strategies for addressing intimate partner violence specific to their own clinic setting.
• Conduct a standard health assessment inclusive of an intimate partner violence component.

Continuing Education

Nurses

Provider approved by California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #CEP 12241, for 6.5 contact hours.

Health Educators

The California Family Health Council is designated as a provider of Category I continuing education contact hours in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. Health educators attending this program may report up to 4.5 contact hours.

Social Workers

The California Family Health Council, Inc., provider number 3165, is an approved provider of continuing education for MFT and LCSW licensure requirements in California. This course meets the qualifications for 4.5 hours of continuing education credit for MFCCs and LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

There is an additional $15 administration fee per certificate, payable on site.
