Contraceptive & Counseling Update

Participants will learn how to use the latest research-based health communication theories with clients. Participants will learn how to improve contraceptive usage in clients, as well as information about the newest contraceptive methods.

Participants will practice the advanced skills necessary to provide high quality contraceptive counseling to clients in a timely manner.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is designed for family planning clinic and program staff, including: Nurses Practitioners,Medical Assistants, Nurses(LVNs, RNs),Health Educators, Community Health Workers,Other interested program staff.

What You Will Learn

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss newer methods of contraception;
  • Discuss current research regarding newer methods of contraception and practical application of the information with clients;
  • Describe current research regarding health communication techniques;
  • Practice advanced counseling techniques to target client family planning needs in a client-centered counseling session.

Continuing Education

Nurses:

Provider approved by California Board of Registered Nursing. Provider #CEP 1224, for 6.5 contact hours.

Health Educators:

The California Family Health Council, Inc. is designated as a provider of Category 1 continuing education contact hours in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. Health educators attending this program may report up to 5.5 contact hours.

Social Workers:

The California Family Health Council, Inc., provider number 3165, is an approved provider of continuing education for MFT and LCSW licensure requirements in California. This course meets the qualifications for 5.5 hours of continuing education credit for MFCCs and LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

There is an additional $15 administration fee per certificate, payable on site.
